		Issue 11: Play Send submissions to "submissions at berealmag dot com" Submissions due May 31, 2003 We accept writing submissions of a maximum of 1500 words. We do not consider multiple submissions, please send one per issue. Do you know why we write these blurbs about the upcoming issues of Be Real Magazine? It's because we want to inspire you to contribute your writing and artwork! We hope that we can spark your interest (this may feel like lighting the fuse on the stick of dynamite that you're sitting on). The theme for Issue 11 of Be Real Magazine will be PLAY! How about if we all write about what we do when we play? (sports? movies? Yahtzee?) What does the word "play" mean to you? Playing is supposed to be fun, but is it always? Playing is about trying new things, experimenting, making messes, and laughing as we clean them up. Kids have this down pat. Experiment with styles of poetry that you've never tried before, take pictures of silly things, paint playful pictures with your fingers, write about the last time you really, truly played with all your heart. And you know, if you really need inspiration, you can take the Play With Your Words writing workshop. If you want to submit something to Be Real Magazine, just send it in! Especially for the Play Issue, take a chance and submit something fun! We love and adore all of our contributors…. and we would love to play with YOU.





		Issue 12: Synchronicity Send writing submissions to: "submissions at berealmag dot com" Submissions due August 31, 2003 We accept writing submissions of a maximum of 1500 words. We do not consider multiple submissions, please send one per issue. Synchronicity is defined as "the coincidental occurrence of events that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality." We want to know how synchronicity has shown up in your life. How many times has something unexpected happened to you? Maybe you thought about something first thing in the morning and it actually occurred later in the day? Synchronicities can be big or little - as simple as running into a person you were just thinking about, even though you haven't seen her in a few months. Or synchronicity can be more complicated, such as a chain of events like a flat tire that lead to a missed plane that turned out well because you avoided the worst snowstorm on record at your destination. Please share with us your marvelous moments of serendipity in 1500 words or less. What wonderful, bizarre happenstances found a way into your life's path and forever changed it? What are the signs you know for sure MUST have come straight from the Angels? What strange coincidences helped you to make a difficult decision? Or what fun, silly, goofy things have you and your friends both come up with at the same time? Write your stories of synchronicity and send them to us, you never know where it might lead.
